How did you end up working with the OUCH Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis?
Benny and I became friends last year when I was working with another team. And through Benny, this opportunity was gifted to me. I could not turn down the chance to work with this program and I am grateful to be here.
Can you describe what your role is for the team, especially before, during and after races?
The short answer: We essentially try to provide the riders with everything they need so they can focus on winning.
From your perspective, what makes a good soigneur?
In my opinion, it takes, at the core, a nurturing soul. Someone who is self-less and giving.
What about from a rider’s perspective?
I think they want someone who they trust to always be looking out for their best interest.
How/why did you end up working with a professional cycling team in the first place?
I love working with athletes. In the five years that I have been a massage therapist, I have worked with almost every kind of pro athlete, mainly professional football players and professional hockey players. A dear friend of mine suggested I apply to the Jittery Joe’s Pro Cycling Team after their previous Soigneur moved on to a larger team. It was a perfect fit. I love this job!
Are you a cyclist yourself?
I was until my bike was stolen. Now I hike and do yoga.
What are your interests outside of cycling?
I am a musician. When I am not on the road with my team, I am writing songs, performing, recording and playing music with my friends as much as possible. I also LOVE to dance. Swing dancing is my favorite but I love to do a Cajun two-step, waltz or a Zydeco any day. Last but certainly not least…I love air drumming.
