Oakland, CA - While the OUCH Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis contests the Tour of Missouri, 1,500 miles east the team has a four-rider squad taking on the UCI 2.2-rated Univest Grand Prix in Pennsylvania. The race opens today with a 7.5-mile team time trial in Allentown.
The team will be led by Pat McCarty, who comes into the race following strong showings at the Tour of Utah and the US Pro Road Race to close out August. He’ll be joined by local resident Bobby Lea, who will be the team’s go-to rider for the Stage 3 criterium. Roman Kilun and Jonthan Chodroff will both provide major horsepower for today’s time trial, as well as weapons for Saturday’s 101-mile road race.
Chodroff comes into the race after taking 5th overall at the Green Mountain Stage Race last week, despite contesting that race without teammates. The 2008 elite time trial national champion earned his high finish on the strength of a 2nd place finish in the GMSR’s opening time trial.
The four-man team will contend with a strong international field, with a number of teams making the trip over from Europe to contest the UCI-ranked race.
