OUCH Presented by Maxxis splits with squads in Tulsa and D.C. this weekend

Oakland, CA - The OUCH Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis will be splitting its roster between two NRC races this coming weekend.

The team will send a four-man squad to contest the three-day Tulsa Tough, beginning Friday evening. Sprinter John Murphy will be the team’s go-to guy for the three-criterium series, with ample support from teammates Roman Kilun, Floyd Landis and Bobby Lea.

Joe Martin Stage Race

The Tough is run on three different courses around Tulsa, Oklahoma. The first evening features a technical figure-eight course in the city’s Blue Dome District. Saturday’s course is a six-turn, L-shaped affair in central Tulsa, while Sunday’s course will take the teams around a more standard four-corner route down along the Arkansas River in the Riverview area.

Heading East

A six-man squad will head for the Eastern Seaboard to contest the U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic races, starting with the Clarendon Cup Saturday, followed by the circuit race Sunday, both in and around Arlington, Virginia.

Leading the charge will be Karl Menzies, who won the Sunny King Criterium earlier this month, and Canadian fast man Andrew Pinfold, who also had a strong Southeast crit week in late April and early May. They’ll be joined by two-time NRC points champion Rory Sutherland, fresh off his third consecutive overall title at the Joe Martin Stage Race.

Team captain Tim Johnson will again guide proceedings out on the road, with support from young talents Brad White and Jonathan Chodroff.

Saturday, the team will face the classic Clarendon Cup course, a technical five-turn layout near the Clarendon metro stop. Sunday, the riders will complete 12 laps of a hilly 12.5 km circuit that borders the area around the Pentagon, rolls past the U.S. Air Force Memorial, and ends in Crystal City.
